A Letter from Mrs. Erickson

September 4, 2020

 Dear Swift Families,

I hope you are all well and that your unusual summer was filled with adventures and staycations.  We have been hard at work preparing for the children’s arrival at school on September 10, 2020.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce, Victoria Lorieau, our Vice-Principal.  Ms. Lorieau will be teaching and supporting the school with administrative time. And just so you know, Lorieau rhymes with “oreo”.

Thank you to all of you who filled out the survey sent out by our District last week to let us know your plans for returning to school.  The District provided three options:  Face to Face instruction (at school), Transition program (in development) or Homeschooling.  As you all know, school will be looking different this year no matter which option you chose.  In fact, there are already some changes to the Transition program based on the PAC meeting that many attended on September 3.  Please read the information from the district carefully and let us know of any changes to your plans.  We are all planning very carefully and very thoughtfully to ensure everyone is safe.  Please watch our website for more details in the next few days regarding school start up.

On our first day for students, Thursday, Sept 10th, students will be in attendance for the full day (8:30am-2:23pm).  Students will need to bring all school supplies, a recess snack and a lunch on this day (please have your child bring a lunch - we cannot allow parents to drop off lunches during the day) as they will be going to their assigned classroom. We will post class lists on Wednesday evening (September 9th, after 3:30pm) on the front windows. Please look for signage telling you where your classroom will be lining up (line ups will be spread out around the school to allow for social distancing).  Parents will also need to complete a daily health assessment for EACH Child before they can enter the school.  We will have a QR code to link you to the form at the line up door.   The code and links will be available on our website (Health and Safety) so you can complete the form before coming to school for each class. ** If the health screening is not completed, your child cannot come in the building until it is completed.  Parents will be called to complete the screening or pick up the child. Make this a part of your morning breakfast routine!

Kindergarten gradual entry will follow the schedules sent out by the office and Kindergarten students will be at school full time starting September 23, 2020.  We look forward to seeing all their lovely, excited faces!

If your child is ill, they cannot come to school until they are physician assessed, or you have contacted 811 and followed their advice and finally that the child is symptom free.

Staggered Arrival and Pick Up information are included in the School Restart Plan.  Please follow it as that will allow us to maintain physical distancing with students arriving and leaving.  The drop off lane can be used for parents to drop their children able to walk independently to class.
