A letter from Ms. Kenney
Dear Swift Families,
Spring is coming…soon we all hope! As we leave February behind and welcome in March next week, it is hard to believe we are almost 2/3 through the school year! Thank you for your continued support, as we wrap up term 2 and get ready for term 3 after Spring Break. Coming up you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher – use this as a chance to celebrate successes and set goals for to end the year on a high! More information on Parent Teacher Interviews is below – keep reading!
New (Old) K-12 Covid Guidelines & Reminders
As you will have noted in Dr. Godden’s email – the PHO has removed the January 2022 Addendum, and we have returned to the guidelines we had before Christmas.
We are happy that we can re-introduce parent volunteers, hot lunches, field trips, class presentations, and other activities that make school a joyful place to be. We continue to have limits on gathering sizes when there are more than staff and students present. We will continue to have the “soft start” arrival time of 8:30 – 8:40. This has allowed for a less crowded arrival and has helped with the parking lot. We remind families that if you’re arriving after 8:40, you must come through the front doors.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to keep everyone healthy and safe. A few reminders to help us do so:
Please keep your child home if they are sick – thank you to those families who have been doing so! Please be sure to check the Fraser Health website or call 8-1-1 for directions if you have confirmed or suspected positive case of Covid in your home, and are unsure of next steps.
Complete a Health Check each morning before leaving home. Please see the attached (most recent) document to help with this.
Keep sending 2 masks to school each day – please check to see that they are a good fit.
Early Dismissal and Parent Teacher Interviews
On March 8th and 9th students will be dismissed at 11:50 for Parent Teacher Interviews. Interviews will be held in person from 12:50 – 2:30 both days, and from 4:00 – 7:00 on March 8th. We encourage you to book a time with your child’s teacher on one of these days.
We will be booking interviews using an online platform - https://swift.parentteacherconferences.net/admin/ – this allows you to see the available times and book the one that works best for you. Beginning February 25th you can register and add your child/children, then on March 1st at 9:00 am you can select the teachers you want to visit with and book your time slots. Information and the “how to” instructions are available on the website or attached here.

Grade 4 Parents – Student Learning Survey
The Provincial Student Learning Survey gathers information from parents/guardians/caregivers, staff, and students on topics related to school environment, safety, and achievement. We encourage parents/guardians/caregivers to participate in this survey, as the results are important in identifying and celebrating current strengths, as well as determining where the school needs to focus improvement. The surveys contain standard questions for the province. The survey can be completed electronically and can be accessed on the Internet at http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/sat_survey - without a logon code by selecting the school district and school name where your child attends school.
Lost and Found
There are so many treasures in our Lost and Found that are looking for their home! Please check our website https://swift.abbyschools.ca/announcement/lost-and-found-winter-2022 If you see something there that belongs at your house, please email swift@abbyschools.ca, listing the item number, your child’s name and division
Parking 101
Please see Parking 101 on the website – here you will find many ideas to make your parking lot experience more pleasant!
School parking lots are the bane of everyone’s existence – this is not just a Swift issue! When we have over 300 kids arriving and leaving in a small window of time – some of the traffic is inevitable. This doesn’t mean however that we can’t be KIND and COURTEOUS to each other.
