Ms. Kenney's February 14 Newsletter
Dear Swift Families,
Happy Valentine's Day! Wishing in a wonderful Family Day long weekend! Remember, there is no school on Monday!
We look forward to seeing you next week for Parent Teacher Interviews – the link for booking is below. Please remember dismissal on Wednesday February 19th and Thursday February 20th is at 11:45.
Please remember to follow all parking by-laws during drop off and pick up. We are well aware that parking can be hard to come by, but choosing to park in no parking zone, blocking neighbours’ driveways and double parking is not the way to fix it. Little eyes are watching all the time.
Safe Arrival
Thank you for continuing to use Safe Arrival to report student absences. It makes our mornings much more efficient when you do. Please go to our website for a link and instructions. If you are unable to report your absence this way, please call the office (604-853-7730) and follow the prompts, or email the office.
Kindergarten Registration is Ongoing
If you have a child who is turning 5 in 2025 (born in 2020), this is the time to sign them up for Kindergarten! There is a lot of information and different ways to register, please see our website, for all this information. Please spread the word around the community - the sooner families register, the better. It is very helpful having accurate numbers when we begin planning for next year. We are looking forward to welcoming the next class of Kindergarteners to Swift!
Parent Teacher Interviews & Early Dismissal
February 19th and 20th are Parent Teacher Interviews. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, learn how the year is going and set goals for the second half of the school year.
Interviews can be booked online, until Tuesday afternoon. Information on how to set up an account can be found here. Interview times are:
Wednesday, February 19th - 12:45 pm - 2:30 pm (end of last appointment) and 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm (end of last appointment).
Thursday, February 20th - 12:45 pm - 2:30 pm (end of last appointment).
PAC News
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the PJ Movie Night! For those who dropped off their kids, we hope you had a wonderful evening! PAC raised over $1800 from this event, all going right back to the kids and activities at the school.
The Neon Family Dance 2.0 will be happening on Friday March 7th. Before we begin selling tickets, we need volunteers, please click here to volunteer! Two time slots will be available for attending the dance, we hope that this change will accommodate everyone who would like to come!
Planning is underway for Carnival 2025! Carnival will be held on June 6th from 5pm - 8pm. Details will be posted here as they are confirmed. Many hands make light work - all assistance to organize this event is welcome! Email taswiftcarnival@gmail.com if you are interested in helping plan this great event!
Those parents that attended the PAC Meeting this week voted on a sensory path theme that will be painted this spring on the blacktop - the winning theme is...SPACE! (We ARE the Swift Comets, of course!) We also had the chance to hear about the presentations that are coming to the school using funding from the PAC for both Fine Arts and STEM! Come on out our next PAC Meeting on March 11th @ 6:00pm to hear for yourself!
