Ms. Kenney's June 19 Newsletter

June 23, 2026

Dear Swift Families,

Here we are, rounding the corner to the end of another great year of learning and growing together! Our last day together is on Thursday June 25th. Thank you for your continued support, we couldn’t do it without you!

Farewell…

The end of the year always brings a few “farewells” – this year is no different.

We wish Mrs. Derksen, Mrs. Dueck, Ms. Knighton, and Ms. Mantle well as they take off on a new adventure. Thank you for all you have done at Swift. We will miss you.

We wish Mrs. Katan, Mrs. Kavozovic, Mrs. O’Donnell, and Mrs. Straiton a special farewell as they starts their retirement adventure!  You will be missed! Thank you for all you have done for the Swift community – enjoy your next journey!

We also say farewell each year to some fabulous students and families – wherever your next chapter takes you, know that you will be missed at Swift!

School Supply Donations

As the year comes to an end, we are happy to accept any “extra” supplies that you might not need at home. We will recycle and reuse what we can at school. Anything beyond that will be donated to other agencies that support families and children in need. There will be a box by the front doors where supplies can be dropped off. Thank you for your helping spirit!

Summer Reading Challenge

We are excited to have the “Swift Summer Reading Challenge” back for another year! A copy will be included in all Kindergarten – Grade 4 report cards. In case it gets lost, it is posted on the school website. The Reading Challenge ends on September 18th! Incoming Ks are welcome to participate with their older siblings, the more the merrier!

The Fraser Valley Regional Library also offers great summer reading opportunities for all students. Information about the reading fun offered at the library this summer is available on the Summer Reading Club section on their website. There is something for everyone!

Strong Start Last Day

The last day of Strong Start for this year is Tuesday June 23rd. We look forward to seeing you in late September for Strong Start next year!

Summer Office Hours

The office will be open until July 3rd. For the week of June 29 – July 3rd hours will be 8:30 – 3:00, the office will be closed July 1st. Please call before coming by the school. There are no guarantees we will be right at the office as there are many year-end tasks to complete around the building, and the front doors will be locked.

The office will be closed from July 4th - August 30th and will re-open on August 31st.  Office hours will from 8:30 – 3:00 until school restarts.

School Supplies for the 2026-2027 School Year

Supply lists and ordering information is available on the website. Ordering is done through SchoolStart directly and shipped to home if you choose this method.

Early Years Summer Programs

There are many different programs being offered by Abbotsford Early Years over the summer. Please head to their website  or see the attached  document to see what is happening!

Lost and Found

The last chance to check out ALL the lost and found items is on June 25th. We will be packing up all remaining items on June 26th. Please check the website for older items, and take a walk through the hall for newer items. There are many things missing their home!

See you in September!

A ‘Welcome Back’ email will be sent the first week of September with information about the first week of school. Information about all class lists, including Nature Grade 1, will be in that email.

The first day of school for Grades 1-5 is September 8th  – this will be a half day with dismissal at 11:30.

For students starting Kindergarten, a mailout will be sent to all families in July with specific information and personalized schedules for Kindergarten start up. Please keep an eye out for this in your mailboxes.

If you know of new neighbourhood kids who need to register for September, please encourage them to check the website and/or email swift@abbyschools.ca over the summer. This email will be checked periodically throughout the holidays.

From all of us, to all of you, Happy Summer!
