Ms. Kenney's September 15 Newsletter

September 18, 2023

Dear Swift Families,

Thank you for a great start-up, it was wonderful to see everyone settled into their classes for the year. I suspect there will be many tired kids this weekend – it seems like it always takes a few weeks to get back into “alarm clock” mode.
As we did last year, a brief newsletter will typically be sent out every other week – this year they will come on Friday and will be posted to the website the following week. I will do my best to have it out by 5:00 – but if it arrives a little later, you will just know that it was a busy day!
We are excited to say we are now fully staffed for the 2023-2024 school year. At this time we extend a big Swift welcome to: Mrs. Goldschmidt (LSS), Mrs. Cybulski (ELL), Mrs. Gallant (Grade 2), Mrs. Groot (Grade 1), Ms. Hood (EA), Mrs. Stamate (EA).

Supervision Reminders
A gentle reminder that supervision before school begins at 8:15. Please do not drop off or send your kids to school with an arrival before that time! Supervision after school ends at 2:40.

Meet the Teacher Evening
Our Meet the Teacher evening will be on September 21st. We invite you to come and say a quick hello to many of our amazing teachers – your children can lead you through the school as you complete a Meet the Teacher Bingo card.

School Photos
School Photos will be next Friday. Please see the attached "Get Redy for Photos"  document so you’re all set for the big day!

Summer Reading Challenge – Due by Wednesday September 20
If you completed the summer reading challenge don’t forget to bring in your sheet! They can be given to your teacher or brought to the office by Wednesday September 20th. We will be celebrating all those who finished the first week of October.

PAC Information: Coupon Books & Hot Lunch
Our amazing PAC has started their first fundraiser for the year – if you need another form, they are available on the website. All orders are due by September 25th!
Hot Lunch dates are all posted on the
website. Please ensure you have made a new Hot Lunch account for this school year. All information for making an account is on the website. The first hot lunch is Dominos Pizza on October 13th. Contact swifthotlunch@gmail.com if you have questions.

Demographic & Photo Consent Forms
Student Demographic and Photo Consent forms were sent home this week – thank you to all the families who have already returned them! If you haven’t, please do so as soon as possible!

School Cash Account
Please be sure to set up your School Cash account. Each child needs to be added to your account. All school-based payments are made here, and all permission forms will be completed here as well. If you haven’t yet set up your account or need a refresher, information is on the website.

School Wide Athletic Participation - Annual Form
There is a new form for all students to complete this year – the school wide athletic participation form covers all sports that grade 4s and 5s might participate in as well as school wide events such as the Terry Fox Run. This form is now posted on all School Cash accounts to be completed.

Fruit and Vegetable Program – Annual Form
We are excited to say that the Fruit and Vegetable program is back! Every 2-3 weeks different produce and milk are delivered. A “Fruit and Vegetable Program” form is ready and waiting to be completed on your School Cash account. You can indicate Yes or No for participation as well as any allergies that we should be made aware of.
