Smelly Inquiries at Swift
April 14, 2021
Things got a little smelly at Swift today as Mrs. Hickey and her students finished up their Exploration of Skunk Cabbage with a dissection of plants. The class has gone for walks to Bateman Park and Palfry Park to discover where skunk cabbage grows and where it does not grow. They have learned the names of the different parts of the plant and what they do. They also learned that bears and deer eat the smelly skunk cabbage as it is the first tender green plant in the forest in spring. The students were very proud of their ability to answer questions about Skunk Cabbage and label the parts.
