Swift News for the week of October 13
Dear Swift Families,
We are now well settled into school routines, and so much learning is happening all over the school. It is wonderful to hear the hum in all our classrooms as many activities take place. It has been exciting to see our Cross-Country runners back at it, and our Grade 5 Soccer team is starting their practices.
We look forward to seeing many families during parent teacher interviews next week, this is a great time for you as parents to share more about your children with us, and for you to hear how their year has started.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Booking for interviews opened on Wednesday October 12th, and will close on Tuesday October 18th . All interviews can be booked through https://swift.parentteacherconferences.net/ Additional information on how to book is available on our website at https://swift.abbyschools.ca/news/parent-teacher-conferences-0
Ordering School Photos
Your child’s photo proofs are ready to be viewed and ordered online. To view the proofs please go to https://vando.imagequix.com/89BRP9H and enter your password and your email. Your password is your child’s pupil ID number. A card has gone home with your child with this information on it. Any orders that are placed by November 15th 2022 will be back before the Christmas break. Orders can still be placed after that date but will not be guaranteed ready by Christmas.
Terry Fox Run – Huge Success!
Thanks to our amazing community the Terry Fox Run was a great success! The students beat their goal of $1000, by a landslide bringing in just shy of $1600. Their “extra recess” prize will happen on October 14th.
Scholastic Book Fair is Back!
After a break due to Covid, we are excited to announce that the Scholastic Book Fair will be returning next week! It will be open before school (Tues-Thurs) at 8:00, after school (Tues) until 3:00, and during Parent Teacher Interviews on Wednesday and Thursday. Classes may visit during the day, but purchases can only be made during the times mentioned above. We are excited to have the book fair return. More information will be coming home tomorrow.

Dogs on School Grounds
This is a reminder that dogs should not be on school grounds. It has been noted over the past couple of weeks that dogs have been around the playground and on the field during drop-off and pick-up. If you enjoy a walk with your dog during these times, please choose to drop off and meet your child off the school grounds.
Thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping the school yard dog free.
Parking and Being Good Neighbours
While we understand that parking can be tricky – we must be good neighbours! Please ensure you are:
- Not blocking driveways in the cul-del-sacs or on nearby roads. City bylaw states that there must be at least 1.5 meters of clearance to a driveway, crosswalk or intersection
- Not double parking in the cul-de-sacs
- Not parking in the Drop-Off Lane – this is for dropping off and picking up students – please do not leave your car if you are in this lane.
