Lost and Found - September and October

The cold weather is upon us and it's the time when the kids wear their coats to school but take them off at lunch and do not find them again. So many hoodies, sweaters and jackets in the lost and found with out Names!

Please see the photos below. If you find an item that belongs to you, EMAIL swift@abbyschools.ca with the ITEM NUMBER and DESCRIPTION. We will find your item and give it to your child OR you can come in and grab it yourself.

Monster Mash Coming Up!

On October 31st Spirit Day all children can dress up in orange and black or a costume of their choice. We ask that full face masks and anything resembling a weapon be left at home. Also please refrain from sending gory costumes. Costume accessories can tend to get lost so those can stay at home as well.

Ms. M will lead the school in the costume parade and the Monster Mash Dance. Unfortunately, we don't have room in the gym to have parents come to watch so here is the video for you to do the dance at home with your child! Take some time to practice with them!

September Star Students

Congratulations to the first of our 2023-2024 Star Students!

Each student at Swift will be a Star Student at some time during the year. They get a certificate and a special celebration after their pictures have been on the wall for a month. The September Star Students will have their celebration in November.

Crisis in the Middle East + Resources

This weekend, we have been following the tragic reports of the crisis unfolding in the Middle East. Children, youth and adults may experience a range of emotions when they hear about or see images and videos from these deeply upsetting events. We imagine this news to also be particularly challenging for our Jewish, Palestinian and Israeli students, staff and families and our thoughts are with them.

I wanted to reach out to share available supports, should you find them of use.

Building Safe, Caring and Inclusive Schools

A welcoming education system for all K-12 students and their families is essential for student success. Research has shown us that when students feel a sense of safety, belonging, and acceptance, it positively impacts school attendance, feelings of attachment and connectedness, academic achievement and overall well-being.

We feel it is imperative to address the narrative surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) in our community, and we want to provide you with credible resources to support your ongoing learning.
